Yesterday, the wind was blowing hard and I found myself singing  "Hoor de wind waait door de bomen."

I went for a walk around the block late last night – 11:30 PM. In Canada, our harvest celebration, Thanksgiving, is the second Monday in October.  It took me a while to adjust to this as I lived in the US from age 8 - 21 and there Thanksgiving is celebrated at the end of November.

I couldn't have wished for a more beautiful ceremony or celebration afterward.

We have a lot of shade, so I put cucumbers, tomatoes, and zucchinis in  pots in the front of the house where there is more sun, hoping the deer  won't eat them.

On this first day of fall - the sun was too hot so I had to move into the shade to work.

I love showing them off - adults' faces relax and a big grin or wistful smile appears. As you can see I stuck a lot of wool into my quart canning jars. I couldn't see many but I heard a lot of calls.  One little sparrow was singing his heart out sitting on the front porch of a bird house in my neighbor's backyard.  I heard and saw a number of crows, too, and then heard the keening calls of a Cooper's Hawk. I found it quite interesting to see how much I rely on what I've already learned when I'm using a new program to do a familiar task.  My fingers want to move in certain ways to various placings that were there in the old program but have moved in the new one.
